“This book is for the millions of parents who continue to find themselves at odds with an ‘anything goes’ culture.  With her typical wit and warmth,  Marybeth continues to inspire, educate and remind each of us of the importance of the all-too-UN-common beauty of using the ‘word,’no!’"

At last, a web site for Precious Girls

If you're like me, there are web sites you've allowed for your kids, but only while holding your nose. We've never permitted the overtly inappropriate environments such as Bratz or even Barbie's "My Scene" because their hypersexual themes and mature situations are just wrong for young girls. (Does a 10 year old really need to be fantasizing about meeting friends at the Tiki Bar? I think not...)

A few other sites -- Web Kinz, for example -- I have allowed in small doses, not because I thought they were really good, but because they aren't as bad as others.

I'm thrilled to recommend a new web site for little girls that's meant to give moms and daughters a fun experience together while supporting wonderful messages about living virtuously. It's called PreciousGirlsClub.com. With a parent's assistance, girls can join the club and spend computer game time collecting charms for virtuous acts (kindness, honesty, compassion). Eventually, they even earn their wings and are able to fly around the virtual environment.

Based on the long-beloved Precious Moments figurines, the artwork in PreciousGirlsClub.com is appealing and wholesome. Games are easy enough to enjoy but challenging enough to stay interested. My daughter is nearly 11, yet she thinks the site is adorable and lots of fun.

Visit PreciousGirlsClub.com with your little girl soon. It's a site that promotes innocence and wholesomeness for young girls and lets you feel good about saying "yes" to computer time. Enjoy!

I also like www.noggin.com for my preschooler (age 1 to 5 or so) it's a branch of Nickelodeon, thankfully minus Sponge-Bob who drives me crazy!
